Annotation -
The subject follows disciple Health Care Psychology with special emphasis on social communication, interpersonal relationship and interactions, social rules, values and roles. The main area of interest is social communication (verbal and non-verbal) especially communication with a patient in a pharmacy and solution of interpersonal conflicts. Communication skills with minority population groups is included in the subject.

Learning outcomes -

The subject of Communication skills for Pharmacists organically follows the discipline known as Healthcare Psychology. It emphasizes issues of social interaction, interpersonal relationships and interactions, social norms, values, and roles. The core, however, is social communication (both verbal and non-verbal) with a special focus on communication in pharmacies and healthcare facilities, resolving interpersonal relationships, including conflicts. The subject also includes familiarization with the specifics of communication with handicapped individuals in connection with health psychology.

 

Learning Outcomes: Based on the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to:

·         Define aspects of social interaction, including social perception and interaction.

·         List verbal and non-verbal components of communication.

·         Describe barriers to communication.

·         Propose the structure and conduct of an interview.

·         Define key principles of effective communication when working with patients.

·         Define key principles of effective communication with specific groups of patients, including children, older adults, patients with aggressive, anxious, depressive, and socially disadvantaged behavior, as well as patients with sensory or mental disabilities.

·         Define types of social behavior.

·         Describe differences between assertiveness, passivity, and manipulation.

·         Demonstrate ways to resolve interpersonal conflicts.
