Annotation -
The subject is based on the current global trend in healthcare, emphasizing the bio-psycho-social approach to the patient. It introduces the subject of the subjective experience of illness, the psychological aspects of various diseases and their therapy, the psychological contexts of drug dispensing, as well as desirable (and undesirable) personality traits and elements of the professional role of a health professional (pharmacist).

Syllabus -

the core of the subject consist of knowledge in health care and medical psychology which includes the areas of problems:

• The subject of psychology and its application in healthcare, especially in pharmacy.
• Methods of medical psychology, research, diagnosis, therapy.
• Challenging life situations (stress, frustration, conflict).
• Psychohygiene and stress management techniques.
• Bio-psycho-social model of the disease, autoplastic processing of the pathogenic situation.
• Psychological aspects of patients diagnosed with pain.
• Psychological aspects of patients diagnosed with cardiovascular disease.
• Psychological aspects of patients diagnosed with insomnia.
• Psychological aspects of patients diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome.
• Psychological aspects of patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus.
• Basic categories and the patient's attitude towards the disease.
• Pain, anxiety and fear, experiencing illness over time. Dying and death, euthanasia.
• Individual and psychotherapeutic approach of a health professional (pharmacist) to patients.
• Psychological aspects of treatment, medication and their dispensing. Using the placebo effect a
suggestion. Iatropathogenesis, pharmaceutics.
