The aim of the teaching of this subject is a deeper understanding of basic and applied pharmacology of the cardiovascular system. The importance is also given by the fact, that cardiovascular diseases represent still the most common cause of mortality in developped countries. Hence, the knowledge of the most important diseases (e.g. cardiac rhythm disturbances, coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension, heart failure) and their pharmacotherapy are essential for each doctoral student experimentally testing the effect of drugs or other chemical entities on the mentioned system.

Cílem výuky tohoto předmětu je hlubší pochopení základní i aplikované farmakologie kardiovaskulárního systému. Význam spočívá i ve skutečnosti, že onemocnění tohoto systému představují ve vyspělých zemích stále nejčastější příčinu mortality. Proto znalosti nejvýznamnějších onemocnění tohoto systému (např. poruchy srdečního rytmu, ischemická choroba srdeční, arteriální hypertenze, srdeční selhání, aj.) a jejich farmakoterapie jsou nezbytné
pro studenta doktorského studia tematicky zaměřeného na experimentální studium působení látek na zmíněný systém.
