Hematology is a scientific discipline that deals with the study of blood and its components. In addition to the study of white and red blood cells, it deals with blood clotting, platelet function and coagulation factors. Its role is due to the very nature of blood. It is the only organ that comes into contact with almost all body tissues. Haematological examinations are nowadays one of the most important and most frequent laboratory examinations that can provide clinicians with important information about the patient. The scope of the subject is to introduce a wide range of laboratory haematological procedures from the point of view of medicine and bioanalytics.
