The aim of the Clinical pharmacy subject is to increase the knowledge and skills of pharmacists in the field of the rational pharmacotherapy, particularly to appropriately select drug alternative. Additionally, consultation skills and ability to use relevant information will be trained. During lectures, interactive seminars and individual preparation, students will learn and discuss selected nosologic units (e. g. arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart failure, coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus, upper gastrointestinal syndrom, asthma bronchiale) and their treatment (aim, strategy, guidelines, basic contraindications, drug effect monitoring). They will practise knowledge of epidemiology, disease risks, symptomatology and diagnostic methods, as well as use knowledge of pharmacoepidemiology and clinical pharmacokinetics and information obtained in the preliminary subjects. Students are required to prepare one clinical case-report before the examination and to pass writing and oral exams. Only those passing writing test are allowed to enter the oral examination. Writing test is focused particularly on the knowledge of the major treatment strategies, drug contraindications and solution of one prepared clinical case.
