The teaching of Clinical Pharmacology in Dentistry is focused on clinical aspects of pharmacotherapeutic complications and safety of the pharmacological treatments. In addition, clinically important information on use of drugs in selected indications with direct relationship to dentistry will be discussed. In particular, special attention will be devoted to clinical aspects of adverse effects, drug interactions and pharmacotherapy in pregnancy and lactation. Furthermore, the clinical pharmacology of drugs used in pain management, altered hemostasis and infections will be discussed with the emphasize to their use or relevance to dentistry practice. Furthermore, the students will receive basic information about drug dosage forms and rational prescription of drugs. Practical teaching will be focused on rational drug prescription and basics of prescription writing.
Entry requirements: prerequisites: {Zubní lékařství 3. ročník} Outcomes (subject Clinical Pharmacology):
1. Students will acquire theoretical knowledge of clinical aspects of pharmacotherapeutic complications and about safety and efficacy of drug treatments in specific populations of patients.
2. Students will acquire theoretical information about clinical use of drugs in selected indications with direct relationship to the dentistry practice
3. The students will acquire theoretical information about dosage forms and practical skills in rational prescription and basics of prescription writing.

Konkrétně bude pozornost věnována klinickým aspektům nežádoucích účinků léčiv, lékových interakcí a farmakoterapie v graviditě a laktaci. Pozornost bude také zaměřena na klinickou farmakologii bolesti, poruch hemostázy a infekčních onemocnění s akcentací relevance pro zubní lékařství. Dále studenti získají informace o základních lékových formách a racionální preskripci léčivých přípravků (hromadně vyráběných i individuálně připravovaných).
Praktická výuka je orientovaná na získání praktických dovedností spojených s racionální preskripcí lékových přípravků.
Vstupní podmínky: {Zubní lékařství 3. ročník}
Výstupy (předmět Klinická farmakologie):
1. student získá teoretické znalosti o klinických aspektech farmakoterapeutických komplikací a bezpečnosti a účinnosti užití léčiv u specifických populací pacientů
2. student získá teoretické znalosti o klinických aspektech vybraných skupin léčiv s relevancí pro zubní lékařství
3. student získá praktické dovednosti při preskripci léčiv a vyhodnocení účinku léčiv s cílem optimalizovat výsledky terapie s minimalizací nežádoucích účinků.
Requirements to the exam

Conditions for granting credit in pharmacology:
a) Attendance at classes Participation on both lectures and seminars is mandatory. One absence on lectures is tolerated (the reason does not need to be documented); late arrivals to classes will also be counted as absences if they are significant. In case of two or more absences on lectures, the student will be examined from the missed topics or will have to write assay(s) on the missed topics as specified by the responsible teacher.
b) In the event of a forced transition to online teaching Practical teaching will take place in a distant form through MS TEAMS using materials in MOODLE LFHK. Students will be required to have the cameras on for the possibility of checking their presence and activity. Repeated technical problems on the part of the student will be considered an absence.

Lectures
The lectures will take place face-to-face as scheduled. Alternatively, it may be organized in MS Teams in the form of "live" streaming or an academic staff member will prepare a PowerPoint presentation with inserted audio/video comments. Video of the lecture will then be uploaded to our Moodle page. The presenting teacher will be available during both face-to-face or online lectures to answer questions during class time or will be available to students for consultations or questions about the lecture in another adequate way.
