Prerequisites: obligatory subjects of the 1st year, Preclinical Dentistry III, Prosthetics Technology.

Aim of the course
Last update: Bc. Lenka Bažantová (21.07.2023)

After finishing this subject, the students are able to:

  1. Explain the physical principles of ionising radiation, generation of X-ray and image creation.
  2. Discuss the interactions between the ionising radiation and matter, including the negative effects on human organism.
  3. Explain the principles of the radiation hygiene.
  4. Describe the X-ray projections in dentistry, including the procedure and interpretation.
  5. Explain the principles, usage, and outcomes of othe imaging methods (ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonantion image).
  6. Take intraoral radiographs in different projections.
  7. Interpret intraoral and panoramatic radiographs.

Lectures

Lectures make more sensitive information in the literature. They reflect contemporary trends in Dental Radiology.

  1. Introduction to dental radiology, general principles (E-learning course - ELC). (Kapitan 3)
  2. Intraoral projections (ELC). (Kapitan 3)
  3. Consultations to ELC. (Kapitan 1)
  4. Panoramic radiography. (Kapitan 2)
  5. CBCT and other imaging methods. (Duska 3)

Note to the lectures: The attendance to the Consultations to ELC is conditioned by passing the e-learning course Intraoral X-ray imaging in Dentistry at least until the theme Selfstudy incl.
