Annotation

Hygiene and Preventive Medicine is preventive health science that deals with the protection and promotion of health. Within this elective subject the ways of most common risk factors of contemporary lifestyle prevention (poor diet, smoking and other addictions, low physical activity, stress) are accentuated. Current WHO recommendations are mentioned.

Active participation in lectures and practical classes. We tolerate absence in 2 seminars without compensation of teaching. Absence in 3 - 4 seminars must be compensated by examination from missed topics. 5 or more absences are not tolerated (requirement to repeat a year or individual study plan).

1. Nutrition I. Basic components of food, their importance in the diet, risks. Nutrition recommendation for healthy people, food pyramid. Drinks. (Kotingova 3)

3. Smoking: epidemiology, health effects, intervention Method "4 A", motivation Method "4 R". Possibilities of prevention - nicotine replacement therapy, non-nicotine therapy. (Smejkalova 3)
4. Occupational health. Physiology of work - job performance, regime of work and rest. Biorhythms, shiftwork. Ergonomics and its use in dentistry. (Kotingova 3)
5. Negative risk factors of contemporary life style - influence on health state of population. Occupational stress (workplace stressors, health effect, methods of assessment, possibilities of prevention). (Smejkalova 3)
