Function of communication, as a fuction of hearing, auditory pathway, cortical speech centres and their connections, represents complicated systém. Any disturbance of this systém has an influence on the development of verbal communication and, as a final result, lower quality of life.- Hearing - investigation of hearing, screening of children with hearing loss, rehabilitation of hearing, hearing aids, cochlear implants- Central connections and brain - disturbance of speech that results from a lesion in the cortical speech centres or their connections with one another. Nuclear, infranuclear and muscular lesions, lesions of the extrapyramidal motor systém, lesions of the cerebellum and its connections.- Woice and speech - basic disorders of woice and speech, rehabilitation and treatment

Komunikační funkce zprostředkované sluchem, sluchovou dráhou-mozkem(aferentní část) mozkové asociace mezi centry sluch-řeč a další -spoje k organu hlasu(eferentní část komunikačního oblouku), představují složitý mechanismus, zajišťující člověku integraci do prostředí. Porucha na kterékoli úrovni znamená podstatné snížení kvality života, pokud k ní dojde perinatálně, může znamenat úplné vyřazení verbální komunikace s dopadem na rozvoj asociací v CNS a rozvoj celé osobnosti. Část pojednávající o sluchu - bude zahrnovat vyšetřování sluchu, metodiku zjišťování sluchových poruch, diagnostiku a záchyt u malých dětí. Seznámí s programem-rizikový novorozenec a sluch, nutnost zachycení zbytků sluchu, kochleární implantace, sluchadla, evokované potenciály a tím přejít do oblasti EEG a center Mozek-sluchové centrum, senzorické poruchy, gnostické, fatické, význam aferentace z periferie po maturaci šedé kůry a asociací(význam kochleární implantace i z tohoto hlediska), co je nutné vyšetřit a jak v oblasti CNS aby se odhalila porucha tam(např. dítě se zbytky sluchu se implantuje, ale vlivem postižení mozku se komunikační oblouk nemůže realizovat).Řeč, hlas- poruchy centrální, periferní, jak lze napravit, reedukace, foniatrie, logopedie. Znaková řeč.
