Annotation -
The goal of the seminars is to present medicine as a scientific discipline with emphasis on principles of evidence-based medicine. Methods and tools of biomedical research, models of physiological and pathological processes, principles of experimental work. Ethics of scientific work. Scientific hypothesis, critical approach to medical scientific information. Analysis of scientific texts. Principles of selected experimental, special examination and therapeutic methods and biotechnological approaches (cell and tissue cultures, neurotransplantation, cell-based therapy, gene modifications, functional-morphological analysis of tissues, functional tests etc.). Demonstration of laboratory devices. Current and controversial medical topics. News in pathophysiology and biomedicine.

The student can critically evaluate scientific information and critically analyze a scientific text. The student recognizes erroneous approaches in scientific research.
