The course will lead to the development of knowledge in modern sequencing techniques, i.e. whole genome
sequencing on different platforms. It will also cover RNA sequencing for the determination of protein expression. Bioinformatics approaches are an integral part of data analysis. Credit is given for participation. Last update: Stachová Barbora, Mgr. (06.05.2024)

Nucleic acid sequencing techniques affect many medical disciplines, not least microbiology. This course will summarize the possibilities of DNA and RNA sequencing, ranging from first-generation sequencing to sequencing of long DNA fragments. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about these techniques in a practical way. Emphasis will be placed on whole genome sequencing of the microbial genome (bacteria, viruses, micromycetes), including analysis of mobile genetic elements (especially plasmids). Students will be introduced to the possibilities of bioinformatic data analysis, including various software tools. Last update: Stachová Barbora, Mgr. (06.05.2024)
