The course deepens the basic knowledge on microscopic anatomy of human body and includes applications of
histology in medicine. First, students are guided through strategies for the description of histological specimens. Second, the microscopic anatomy of sensory organs will be illustrated thoroughly. Third, we explain the use of immunohistochemical methods for specific detection of tissue antigens and provide examples of the use of immunohistochemistry. Fourth, we present liquid biopsy techniques using the molecular genetic profile of tumor cells obtained from blood and urine samples. Fifth, we review histological procedures used for microscopic analysis of tissues and organs in forensic medicine. Last, students will apply their knowledge on histological structure of human body when solving simplified case studies in a format of a problem-based discussion. Last update: Křikavová Lenka, Ing.
