Description of basic anatomy of the heart, anatomy and physiology of the conducting system. Principles of ECG registration including its technical aspects. Description of normal ECG curve. Pathophysiology of diseases having ECG manifestations (e.g. arrhythmias, myocardial infarction). Description of pathological EGC curves, identification of diagnosis. Practicing ECG diagnostics.

Attendance of 70% of classes. In case, this is not fulfilled, the student can substitute the class by preparing an essay or presentation on a topic specified by the teacher.

Learning outcomes -

The student understands principles of ECG recording, is able to describe ECG records using medical terms, analyze the record and discover and name pathological changes of the ECG curve.

The student understands and is able to explain pathophysiological principle of individual pathological signs on ECG curves and is able to apply this knowledge in ECG diagnosis.

The student is able to recognize the most important ang frequent pathologies having manifestations of ECG, can name the diagnosis and is able to explain how the diagnosis was done. The student understands manifestation of a particular disease on ECG.

The goal is also to practice ECG curve description and diagnosis using real ECG records.
