You’ll learn about mechanisms of higher cognitive functions of the brain – learning and memory, sensory
information processing, decision making, etc. The main impact of the course is on experimental neuroscience
across its cellular and systems levels, and both on its basic and most recent achievements. Despite we’ll always
look for the relevant clinical projections, the primary focus is scientific. The seminar will mainly build on your
previous knowledges in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
Last update: Ježek Karel, doc. MUDr., Ph.D. (26.09.2024)

The subject covers mechanisms of higher cognitive functions of the brain – learning and memory, sensory information processing, decision making, etc. The main impact of the course is dedicated on experimental neuroscience across its cellular and systems levels from its historical milestones up to the most recent achievements. Relevant clinical projections will be stressed for each topic. The seminar builds on already aquired knowledge in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology (from 1st & 2nd year).
Extent: 8 talks (2 hrs each)
