Annotation -
The aim of the course is to make students familiar with the basics of the Czech language system (vocabulary, grammar). Students will learn how to use the language in everyday situations (communication skills), they will be able to read and understand simple texts in Czech.

Learning outcomes -

·         Basic Communication Skills

Students are able to engage in simple conversations, introduce themselves, and ask and answer basic questions about personal information, such as name, origin, and profession.

·         Daily Life and Routine
Students are able to talk about their daily activities, schedules, and routines, including discussing timetables, studies, and free time.

·         Spatial Orientation
Students can give and receive directions, navigate the campus or city, and describe locations using basic vocabulary for orientation.

·         Social Interaction
Students actively participate in basic social interactions, including greetings, talking about family, and engaging in simple conversations about relationships and hobbies.

·         Shopping and Services
Students are able to engage in simple dialogues related to shopping and services.

·         Cultural Awareness
Students have an understanding of basic Czech holidays and other cultural aspects, and they can discuss cultural topics in a very simple form.

·         Basic Grammar and Vocabulary
Students passively understand all singular cases of Czech nouns, and actively use the nominative, accusative, and vocative cases. They are able to speak in simple sentences using the present tense of imperfective verbs. They can correctly combine nouns with both hard and soft adjectives, use the demonstrative pronoun "ten," and employ basic numerals. Grammatical competence is primarily passive.

Course completion requirements -

WS+SS: Credit: attendance (max. 4 absences/semester), successful completion of continuous tests, credit test and completion of assignments.

Examination: written and oral parts. The student proceeds to the oral part after successful completion of the written test.

Continuous, credit and exam tests must be completed at a minimum of 70%, the number of attempts is 3.
