Teaching takes place in the seminar room of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology – University Hospital Bory, pavilion 22, 5th floor.
The concept of ENT and its history. External and middle ear acute and chronic inflammation. Middle ear inflammation complications. Ear tumors and their management. Hearing disorders. Hearing loss and middle ear surgery. Presbyacusis and deafness conservative treatment (hearing aids). Audiometry. Nose and paranasal sinuses diseases. Nose and paranasal sinus surgery. Pharynx diseases. Inflammatory diseases of the larynx. Laryngeal tumors. Surgical treatment of laryngeal tumors. TNM system. Speech and voice disorders and their rehabilitation. Examination methods of vestibulology. Modern trends ENT investigation and therapy. The student will acquire an overview of the spectrum of medical care, running and organization of work at the ENT dpt. of Faculty of Medicine and Faculty Hospital in Pilsen. They will encounter the issues of the speciality, its specifics and common themes with related fields. During the theoretical lectures, key topics of the field are discussed. In practical lessons, the students learn about the work of at the department, the surgery theatre and in the ambulatory tract. Based on knowledge from previous clinical and pre-clinical disciplines, students will gain knowledge about the context of ENT among other medical disciplines.
