Annotation -
Annotation: The subject of gynecology and obstetrics is a compulsory part of the 4th year of study in the Dentistry program at the Faculty of Medicine in Plzeň, Charles University. During the course, students will become acquainted with gynecological anatomy and physiology, the most common and most serious gynecological pathologies, and the organization of gynecological care in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the course covers anatomical and physiological changes during pregnancy, the course of spontaneous physiological childbirth and the postpartum period, the most common pregnancy pathologies with a focus on life-threatening conditions during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, medical management of labor, and the system of prenatal care in the Czech Republic.

Course completion requirements -

Practicals are compulsary, one absence is allowed for credit, Lectures are voluntary , usually after practicals.
The terms of exams are placed in SIS at least two weeks before. Questions for exams are eclosed.

Learning outcomes -

Teaching results: The student is able to describe the anatomy of the female reproductive organs and the basics of reproductive physiology. They can provide an overview of the most common and most serious gynecological pathologies and are familiar with basic diagnostic and treatment methods. Furthermore, the student can describe the physiological changes during pregnancy, the course of physiological childbirth and the postpartum period, and is familiar with the most common life-threatening conditions and their management. They can briefly describe the organization of gynecological and obstetric care in the Czech Republic.
