Seminars take place in the new seminar room of our institute - University Hospital Lochotin, entrance B, 2nd floor, next to the elevators.
Medical students will gain knowledge of the organization and work of a clinical laboratory. They will become acquainted with problems of preanalytical influences on the results of laboratory examinations, methods for estimation of reference limits, and questions of "evidence-based medicine" (i.e., problems of diagnostic sensitivity and specificity, concept of a risk factor, etc.). The main outcome is to help students to understand indication and interpretation of the most common laboratory tests. The classes are interactive, focusing on proper understanding of problems rather than memorizing knowledge. Some classes begin with readiness quiz to ensure some basic knowledge before starting more complicated topics. The classes are supported by e-learning course: http://lms.lfp.cuni.cz/course/view.php?id=170 where you can find more information and study materials (texts, presentations, study quizzes).
