Annotation
The course is designed in the first half of the lecture part as a theoretical overview of the basic components and functions of the immune system, which is followed in the second half of the semester by lectures discussing disorders of the immune system and its therapeutic influence in human medicine. Compulsory seminars extend the teaching with deeper insights into the material discussed in the lectures and its practical use in the form of workshops. During the semester, students in research teams of 3-4 members devote themselves in depth to one of the 14 diagnoses characteristic of the field of clinical immunology and allergology. The informative content of the work is directed by the questions asked by the teachers. Seminar papers in written form are evaluated by teachers, students are provided with feedback. In the last third of the semester, students present their diagnosis to their colleagues and perform the differential-diagnostic procedure. Continuous preparation of students is motivated by mandatory tests.
