Annotation -

The course on Clinical anatomy of great joints is focused on presentation of the anatomy of joints with regard to the clinical requirements of orthopaedics and trauma surgery, i.e. localisation of diseases, injuries and post-traumatic affections and, and to the therapeutic procedures or surgical approaches. It is a complementary course to the instruction of classical anatomy describing all anatomical structures in detail.

Aim of the course -

The primary objective of the subject is a clinical presentation of the anatomy of great joints.

The second objective is to present the main anatomical terms of orthopaedics and trauma surgery.

The third objective is to explain the meaning of individual clinical-anatomical concepts with regard to the future study of therapeutic options of the treatment of orthopaedic and post-trauma affections.

The fourth objective is to acquaint the students with the anatomy of individual regions in terms of the respective surgical approaches.

Teaching methods -

The course consists of seminars where the students are always provided with materials for the following unit. The instruction is interactive and is supplemented with slides documenting dissection material and intraoperative findings. Selected topics are illustrated by video-recordings taken during operations.
