Annotation -
The course deals with microorganisms and their effects on human health. The focus of the education is shifted to the microbial pathogenesis and immunology, antibiotic resistance, laboratory diagnostics in the medical microbiology, appropriate methods of the collection and transport of the samples. Prevention and treatment of infectious diseases are also explained, as far as the knowledge in hygiene neseccary fot the further worh of students.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is the laboratory diagnostics and treatment of infectious diseases and their epidemiology, mechanisms of pathogenicity and virulence of the clinicaly important microbes, their antibiotic resistance and the immune response. Adherence to Good Clinical Practice in the prevention of nosococomial infections is ephasized. The further aim is to bring the students basic knowldge of hygiene, first of all applicated on the hygienic problems of health care facilities.
