The Course "The basic philosophy and psychology": Lectures of History of Medicine and Medical Law are a follow-up to lectures from opening course. During seminars medical students familiarise a three step way of arguing: (1) general introduction to a given problem, biological/biochemical or medical background of certain specific problem (for example euthanasia)(2)a descriptive ethics - description of different attitudes of different philosophers, philosophical schools, main religions etc. (3) a normative ethics: an attempt to define my own stance supported by arguments, or identification of values. There are plenty of case reports for trainig this method. A considerable gain of this course is a often repeated discovery, that other intelligent persons or schoolmates or friends see this very same ethical dilemma from a radically different point of view. |
