Annotation -
Basic principals of communication together with chosen chapters from general, genetic as well as social psychology that have relation to the General Nurse Specialization are included in the educational course.

Aim of the course -

Studies Object:

The primary object of the studies is to make students familiar with the principal terminology of the psychological disciplines and, from the very beginning of the studies; it is focused on both synthesis and application of gained knowledge and skills of the students directly into nursing practice. Students will learn how to work out a case study for different nursing diagnosis based on psychological attitude as well as to understand the usage of so called Maslow?s Hierarchy of Needs Model. The emphasis is put on all the three important aspects of human being: biological, sociological as well as psychological one.

Syllabus -

Extracts from Social Psychology: Communications, assertivity, conflicts solving and prevention, social interaction, social perception, attitudes, relationship under the conditions of health or disease

Extracts from General Psychology: Character of the psychic activities of the person, learning and memory, cogitation and intelligence, motivation and emotions.

Extracts from Personality Psychology: Clinical methods of the psychological diagnostics, psychological conception of the personality and its dynamism, structure and evolution; an overview of the personality theory, abnormal personality formulae, problems of the dependence or addiction.

Extracts from Evolutionary Psychology: Mental evolution in the pre-natal, nursling, pre-school and school-attendance stages as well as during the pubescence, adulthood and old age. Lectures on Freud?s, Erickson?s, Piageta?s, and Kohlberg?s theories of personality evolution and the crucial actions influencing children?s aggressiveness and intuitive parenthood.

Psychology usage in nursing: Patients? behaviour and coping with the diseases; psychological attitudes of the nurse towards the patients; frustration, deprivation and the stress. Burnt-out syndrome, iatrotechniques; problems of the nurse-patient relationship. Medical team communication; psycho-training for difficult medical help. Care for psycho somatic patients. Psychological character of the pain ? nurse?s role and her ability to help; psychological care for seriously ill patients, fatal and mortal situations. Care for ill children; nurse?s role and the role of the game therapists. Character and forms of psychotherapy; possibilities of further psychotherapy education for nurses. Psychological first aid and crisis intervention.
