The course emphasizes the fundamentals of pediatrics, particularly medical history taking, physical examination, and the principles of child growth and development, including congenital developmental defects.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the characteristics and specific aspects of pediatric clinical examination, to teach correct history taking in pediatric patients of all age groups, and to develop communication skills with both children and their families. The course also emphasizes the acquisition of fundamental clinical skills, including the specifics of laboratory and imaging diagnostics in children of different ages, with the goal of enabling basic interpretation of these findings. As part of the course, students will also be introduced to the principles of child growth and development, as well as congenital malformations of the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, urogenital, and respiratory systems.

Course completion requirements -
The requirements for course credit include 100% attendance at practical exercises (bedside teachings) and clinical seminars, completion of four online periodic tests (limit of success 50%), and presentation of a patient case study. The requirements for obtaining the credit must be fulfilled by the end of the course, that is, no later than the last day of the two-week block. Absences from practical exercises with a valid excuse will be addressed on an individual basis. The course concludes with an exam in the form of a multiple-choice test. The questions are based on the individual teaching units. The exam will take place on the announced dates during the examination period.
