The course aims to provide students with a deeper understanding of the field of General Practical Medicine, primarily through their own experience. It introduces students to the holistic view of human health and the complex long-term care that characterizes the work of the general practitioner. Students should gain new insights and greater confidence in the differential diagnosis of common diseases. They should become familiar with the complex care of elderly and poly-morbid patients and its specificities. They should understand the importance and limits of evidence-based medicine in primary care. The importance of the course for all medical students lies primarily in demonstrating and practising the integration of all medical knowledge and communication skills in complex patient care. It shows the necessity of working with epidemiology, general history, patients' background, knowledge of the specifics of different population groups and psychological and psychosomatic rules in diagnosis, therapy, as well as in the long-term care of the bio-psycho-social health of a person. Students should understand the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and become familiar with the terms "overdiagnosis" and "overtreatment". They should learn the principles of differential diagnosis of common diseases and their rational therapy in the field of primary care. They should also learn the principles of patient-oriented care.
