After completing the course, the student will consolidate and practice the practical skills needed to provide basic
nursing care to a patient. Contact practical teaching takes place in small groups of students. Simulation teaching
is focused on practicing individual nursing skills.

Conditions for completing the subject/requirements for the exam *: The subject is completed with a credit. After completing the course, there will be a practical examination of the acquired nursing skills.

The basic teaching topics include: • prevention of nosocomial infections, • observation and monitoring, • positioning, mobilization and prevention of pressure ulcers, • basic hygienic care and bed care, • care for the patient's nutrition, • reception, translation and discharge of a patient in a medical facility, • acute wound care • administration of medicinal products, • infusion therapy, • collection of samples for laboratory examination, • care of vascular accesses, • catheterization of the urinary bladder and care of the entrances to the renal system, • oxygen therapy, • introduction and care of the nasogastric tube and entrances to the GIT Last update: Špácová Marika, DiS.
