The aim of the study is to get theoretical knowledge and practical dexterities in prosthetic dentistry – examination of the patient from the prosthetic point of view, proposal of prosthetic reconstruction treatment plan, pre-prosthetic oral treatment, oral tissues reconstruction with fixed, removable and combined dentures. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Practical knowledge and dexterities of denture manufacturing. Fixed dentures. Combined dentures. Total dentures. Dental implant therapy.

Teaching methods

Annotation: The goal of the studies: to get theoretical knowledge and practical skills in prosthodontics – examination of the patient in accordance with the prosthetic reconstruction of his teeth, treatment plan proposal, pre-prosthetic arrangement of the teeth and jaws, prosthetic therapy with fixed and removable dentures. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Prosthetic materials, the theoretical and practical knowledge of denture manufacturing in detail. The teeth defects and the basic types of dentures. Fixed dentures. Removable partial dentures. Total dentures. Preventive aspects of prosthetic reconstruction.

Regulation for credits

1) Participation in practices - one regularly excused absence tolerated per semester (sickness - confirmed by doctor, exceptional situation)

2) Participation in seminars - one regularly excused absence tolerated per semester (sickness - confirmed by doctor, exceptional situation)

3) Interview with the teacher – Max. two oral exam corrections

Basic knowledge for the interview - Prosthetic Dentistry 2024 - Contents

  1. Implants, rationale for implants from point of prosthetic dentistry, consultation, examination, treatment plan, abutments, materials, cement-retained, screw-retained, friction-retained prostheses on implants….
  2. General properties of materials use in prosthetic dentistry, main materials: metal and no metal materials, material for impression……
  3. The new age of prosthetic dentistry. No post, no crowns, mini-invasive preparation, new materials for CAD/CAM technology, (PEEK, Trilor, G-CAM, ….)
  4. Resin bonded fixed dental prostheses, single or two abutment design, cantilever design, etched metal, etched ceramic, retention (undercut, micromechanical, and grooves), chairside procedures.
  5. All ceramic restoration. (Indications, working procedures)
  6. Treatment planning in prosthetic dentistry. History taking, clinical examination, principal of occlusion, periodontal consideration, combination implant and teeth abutment….
  7. Luting agents and cementation procedures. Classic and CAD/CAM produced overlay or crowns.
  8. Removable dentures, retainers for partial dental prostheses, treatment plan, clasp and attachment support, bracing, reciprocal elements, …
  9. Overdentures, periodontal receptors, PEEK, telescope and cone crown as abutment.
  10. Complete denture, plan, consultation, examination, two ways-classic and CAD/CAM, centric relation record, facebow technique, acrylic resin record base, …
