The aim of ophthalmological study: anatomy and physiology of the eye, basic principles of optics and refraction, diagnosis and therapy of the most frequent diseases of anterior and posterior segment of the eye. Knowledge of basic examination methods of the eye and treatment of the most frequent and acute diseases. Knowledge of eye symptoms in cases of non-ophtalmic diseases, especially in urgent and complicated cases.

Účelem je naučit studenty anatomii a fyziologii oka, základy optiky a refrakce, diagnostice a léčení nejčastějších chorob předního a zadního segmentu oka. Schopnost vyšetřit oko a jeho okolí, základy diagnostiky a léčení nejčastějších a akutních onemocnění oka, schopen rozhodovat ( v rámci všeobecné medicíny) o nutnosti specializované oftalmologické léčby v urgentních a komplikovaných případech.
