Annotation -
This course is designed for history students and students interested in history. In this course we will work with texts on Russian history taken from the historical, journalistic and linguistic works of historians, linguists and writers.
The course will be based on two principles: historical-chronological and content-thematic

Aim of the course -

- expanding and consolidating receptive and productive linguistic knowledge and skills in Russian within the field of history and history-related disciplines

-  expanding the vocabulary necessary for professional and professional activities of students of history, political science, sociology, etc.

- acquaintance with historical and cultural realities

1 text with comprehension tasks, 1 translation text

Oral part:

Presentation of 10 standard pages of a professional historical text written by a native speaker or published by a reputable publishing house (translated text from a foreign language cannot be presented)

discussion of the selected text

Syllabus -

  

 

  In this course we will work with materials covering the period of Russian history from the 10th century to the 20th Century.

 How Russia Walked into the 20th Century. This topic includes historical events from the 10th century onwards.

History of Ukraine (selected events, facts, people).

- Zaporizhian Sich. Hetmanism

- events of the 20th century

The Last Romanov.

Russian-Japanese War 1904-1905.

The Revolution of 1917 and the Civil War.

Soviet propaganda and Russian culture.

In addition to historical aspects, the course will include texts on the history of culture: art, architecture, literature.

Students can actively participate in the development of the course programme and propose topics of interest or related to their specialisation.
