The course is dedicated to practical training of reading German historical sources from the 16th to 19th century. Students will be acquainted with the phenomena stemming from the linguistic as well as the historical situation in the Czech lands in the 20th century with special focus on aspects of German from the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
Students will be acquainted with the method of translating German historical texts. The seminar is focused on the outline of the development of German language, overview of German dialects, historical measures and weights, festivities and dating as well as comparison of Czech and German geographical terms in the Czech lands. The selection of texts will be accommodated to the specific needs of the students of Archive Studies and Auxiliary Historical Sciences or History.
