The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge and skills that are prerequisites for psychodiagnostic work with children and youth. Students will learn about the specifics of child diagnosis, principles and strategies and ethical principles of psychodiagnostic work. They have the opportunity to learn the basic psychodiagnostic methods according to the age of the child and according to the types of methods and problem areas. Within these methods and techniques they will encounter clinical and test procedures.
Course content: Specific peculiarities of child diagnosis; Diagnostic methods and their classification; Clinical methods; Basic test methods; Developmental diagnosis; Intelligence tests; Tests of special abilities; Questionnaires; Projective techniques; Special issues in child psychodiagnostics ; Examination of the young child; Diagnosis of preschool children; School maturity; Diagnosis of intelligence and intelligence disorders; Diagnosis of learning problems, failure to thrive; Diagnosis of laterality; Diagnosis of specific developmental disorders of learning and behaviour; Organic CNS disorders, neuropsychological diagnosis; Family diagnosis and diagnosis of family relationships; Diagnosis in adolescence and adolescence; Forensic diagnosis; Documentation and formulation of reports and findings; Ethical issues in child psychodiagnosis.
