Methodological and content management of diploma theses. It is based on specifying the requirements for the thesis, familiarizing with the structure of the thesis and repeating the principles for working with documentary information. The actual content of the seminar is student reports on individual projects. The theoretical background and the procedure for the empirical part of the thesis are discussed. The aim of the course is to deepen students' preparation for independent publishing work (not only in the framework of DP and its defense).
Course content: Analysis of the thesis topics; Requirements for the thesis; Work with documentary information in relation to the thesis; Overview of sources of documentary information in relation to specific themes of individual theses; Preparation of theses (thematic units, thesis layout, definition of the main problem of research, the most important sub-problems, methods and procedures applied in the thesis, basic literature); Presentations by individual students on the process of solving the sub-tasks; Analysis and evaluation of the process; Consultations to resolve basic methodological issues, to evaluate and interpret the results; Discussion focused on methodological, ethical, content and formal aspects of theses. Presentation of a report on the progress of work on the diploma task (outline presentation of the basic approach to the topic and the solution of selected problems in the progress of work from the literature review, through the formulation of the problem and, if necessary, hypotheses, analysis of variables, the choice of research project, methods, experimental subjects, examination procedures, the implementation of the actual collection of data to their processing). Preparation and submission of a written thesis of at least 2 pages of text.
