Definition of work and organizational psychology as an applied discipline - theoretical definition and history. Work and its conditions: job analysis, performance, job training. Personality and work - fitness for work, motivation and attitudes to work, job satisfaction, etc. Work and organization - organization theory, organizational culture, organizational change, job loss. Areas of application of work psychology.
The aim of the course: to provide students with the necessary theoretical foundations of work and organizational psychology - to introduce students to the issues of this applied discipline that are currently being addressed in organizations - to give students a glimpse of their own work behavior - to get an idea of the work of an organizational psychologist Acquired knowledge: the student will understand the limitations, focus and thematic structure of one of the basic applied psychological disciplines, can name the theoretical foundations of work-related phenomena, understands the diverse context of working conditions at the individual, group/team and organizational level, is able to name specific areas of possible applications and possibilities of using psychology in work problems. Acquired skills: the student is familiar with the issues of the basic disciplines, can relate theoretical knowledge to important phenomena of occupational psychology, is able to compare and evaluate different approaches and opinions on general and specific issues related to the relationship between man and work, define and formulate occupational psychological problems, elaborate on the assigned topic and create a presentation including explanation, comparison, discussion and argumentation. In order to obtain certification in the subject, it is necessary to meet the requirements for both theory and practice. The theoretical part will consist of continuous tests at individual lectures. We will start each lecture with a moodle test with 5 questions related to the topic discussed the previous week. You can get a maximum of 5 points for the test. The practical part will consist of attending seminars. Each of you can opt for 6 seminars to attend during the semester. At the end of each seminar, the last 10 minutes will be devoted to space for writing a short self-reflection, which you will submit to fulfill your participation.
