Přednáška je pojata jako semestrální kurs, který studentům přiblíží antickou epigrafiku (nauku o nápisech) jako jednu z
významných pomocných věd historických i filologických zpracovávajících antickou problematiku. Studenti se seznámí s
obsahem disciplíny, jejími cíli a technikami a se specifikami řecké a římské epigrafiky. Pozornost bude soustředěna na
epigrafiku latinskou (římskou).

Hlavní témata:

1.dějiny discipliny,
2. základní pomůcky,
3. epigrafické soubory,
4. světová badatelská centra;
5. nápisy a jejich druhy,
6. technika zhotovování nápisů v antice,
7. písmo, datace nápisů;
8. práce epigrafika na odborném zpracování nápisů, rekonstrukce jejich textů,
9. publikace;
10. informační význam nápisů pro poznání společenského života doby;
11. ukázky nápisů a jejich praktická interpretace.
