The course provides a broad perspective on the general theme of children and their rights. Lecture present a multi-disciplinary view of the needs and rights of childhood focusing on legal rights, on the treatment of children throughout history of rights of the child, current international efforts to promote the wellbeing of children, the role of the family and of the school, the need for special treatment for handicapped or gifted children, and the environmental circumstances necessary for the development of the child in the school.
