It provides a discussion on characteristics of units, terminology, historical aspects, biostratigraphical correlations, and relations to other branches of stratigraphy. Usage of units and practical problems are demostrated. Some parts of the course has an interactive form focused on discussions on selected biostratigraphical topics. It is also paid an attention to reworking of fossils. Standards in biostratigraphy, general questions on taxonomy, and bilogical evolution comprise another whole of topics. In the final part of the course, each participant elaborate and report on a topic published in scientific literature. Examination: oral with accent on understanding to main principles of biostratigraphy. |
