The theoretical aspect of the subject will encompass basic anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the spine. Clinical examination, radiological studies, basic surgical indications and operative treatment of the spine will be included. The practical part will train students in clinical examination of the spine, to fuse clinics with radiological images and finally attempt to suggest the correct method of treatment and type of surgery.

  • A credit will be given on a base of 100% attendance at practical trainings in case of students full active participation.

Lectures

  1. Anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of the spine. Degenerative diseases of the cervical and lumbar spine.
  2. Basics of clinical examination of the spine and imaging diagnostics. Indications and contraindications of surgical treatment of the spine.

  • Training in clinical examination of the spine.
  • Training in the asessment of clinical and radiological findings to correctly indicate either conservative or surgical treatment of degenerative diseases of the spine.
