The aim of the professional practice is to gain knowledges end experiences in community care, providing long-term care of the elderly and people with medical and/or mental disabilities. They are dependent on the help of another person. Students will become familiar with the issue of continuity or concurrence of health and social care, forms of health and social services provided in the community. They will know the legislation of these institutions. They will know the mission, organization and services of the facilities that provide professional assistance to the above-mentioned clients. |

120 hours of professional practice (40 hours to obtain information about the selected facility and to summary it to the report for credit and 80 hours of direct practice in the selected facility)
Professional experience
Students secure individual practice at their place of residence, relevant documents for practice (insurance for practice abroad) has to be collect at the Study Department. Information about institution of individual practice is entered by the student to the system at http://praxe-ukm.lf3.cuni.cz. The selection of institution for ICM practice can be consulted with the teachers of the Institute of Nursing - Mgr. Kateřina Kravcová (katerina.kravcova@lf3.cuni.cz), Mgr. Tereza Bakusová (tereza.bakusova@lf3.cuni.cz) Practice in the 1st year CAN NOT be situated in facilities providing acute care, in hospital emergency departments, ambulances, psychiatric hospitals, spa facilities. ICM I internship carried out in the Czech Republic - 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University provides internships for students, e.g. at the social care department and the long-term care department of the Faculty Military Hospital in Prague 6 Střešovice, Hagibor Social Care Center. Syllabus of professional practice
The aim of the practice for the student is to know
1) the issue of community care from the point of view of providing long-term care for the elderly and people with medical and/or mental disabilities who are at risk or lose self-sufficiency and are dependent on the help of another person
2) issues of continuity or concurrence of health and social care, forms of health and social services provided in the community, relevant legislation.
3) the mission, organization and services of facilities that provide professional assistance to the above-mentioned clients (e.g. home care agencies, day care centers for the elderly, day care centers for people with dementia, homes with a special regime, hospices, homes for the elderly, treatment centers for the long-term sick , welfare beds and follow-up care beds, social welfare institutions, etc.)
