Preclinical dentistry is a preclinical subject leading to the understanding of basic facts of all specialties of dentistry: operative dentistry, prosthetic dentistry, oral surgery, periodontology, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, preventive dentistry. Students learn about principles of science on dental materials used in treatment of patients, basic procedures for caries treatment, periodontal diseases, tooth extraction techniques and prosthetic appliances realization. Knowledge of basic manipulation with devices in dental office and laboratory. Student must be able to perform examination of the patient including X-ray reading and treatment planning.

Course completion requirements

The conditions for obtaining the credit.

 

1) It is only allowed one absence excused for  major reason (medical report, incapacity, serious family situation).  It is recommended to replace   the missing practice    or eventually prepare a presentation on the subject of missing practice according to agreement with the teacher.        

2)To prepare a presentation on a given topic.       

 3)In  the tests throughout the semester to achieve at least a 70% success rate  (classification: A- 100%, B- 90%, C- 80-70%, D-60% and less)

4) At the credit test (2 attempts) to achieve at least 75% correct answers (classification: A-100-95%, B-90-85%, C-80-75%, D-70% and less). When achieved  70% success rate or  less at the second attempt,  it is  followed by an oral commissional  examination  as the final option. I the case of  insufficient knowledge, credit will not be granted.
