GENERAL ENGLISH I Level B1 - B2 FOR WHOM THE COURSE IS INTENDED: the course is intended for all students of bachelor and master studies who take English as their second foreign language, in preference to the students of International Territorial Studies and Czech-German Studies (or other courses within the FSV if there is free capacity). AIM OF THE COURSE: The course is intended mainly for those students who wish to reinforce their knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and at the same time want to get prepared for further language studies.

Our seminars will cover current social studies topics and presentations skills.

In our language courses, attendance records are kept, and once you enroll you will be expected to attend classes regularly (please note that only four absences a term are tolerated). If a student misses more than four lessons he/she is required to contact his/her teacher during the consultation hours or via e-mail.

The study materials used in the classes are solely for the use of the students of the English II. course. Any circulation of the materials is prohibited.

Students will improve their speaking, writing, listening and reading skills as well as grammar and vocabulary at an upper intermediate level (B2), so that they are able to communicate in everyday situations with higher degree of accuracy. The course bridges the gap between secondary school English and English used by a university student.

Teaching methods -
Last update: Mgr. Michaela Klírová, M.Phil. (13.09.2012)

During the classes we adopt communicative approach towards foreign language learning and employ various methods and techniques, ranging from teacher’s instruction to discovery technique when students themselves find out the grammar rules or try to form new words from the root ones. Also, the multiple intelligence theory is used which can cater for the needs of all types of learners (audiovisual, kinesthetic, spatial intelligence etc.).
