The lecture offers basic knowledge on the plant water uptake, transport and transpiration. The physical basis of the water absorption by roots, water transport on the cellular level, water transport in xylem, and water vapour efflux by leaves are explained. Main attention is paid to mechanisms of regulation of individual processes. The ecophysiological aspects of plant water relationship are also considered.

Přednáška poskytuje základní přehled problematiky příjmu, vedení a výdeje vody rostlinou. Podrobně jsou vysvětleny fyzikální základy absorpce vody kořeny rostlin, transportu vody na buněčné úrovni, transportu vody v xylemu a výdeje vodní páry listy. Hlavní pozornost je věnována regulačním mechanizmům jednotlivých procesů. Nejsou opomenuty ani ekofyziologické aspekty vodního provozu rostlin.
