academic competencies in the English language. The expected level of the language is at least B1–B2 according to the European reference framework (the seminar participant should be able to understand a longer text with the help of a dictionary and actively participate in the discussions). 80% of the interactive content of the seminar is in English. As part of the compulsory electives, the student is required to enroll in one of a pair of courses: either Academic English 1 and 2 or Professional German 1 and 2. For Academic English 2 KJAZ257, a special parallel group for B2-C2 level students with an explicit focus on both, Professional English and Academic Writing has been created in LS 2024 (registration in Google Classroom is required for this group). Scheduled: Tuesday 14.35–16.10. Teacher: Lenka M. Demartini. Note: enrolment in this group is conditional upon the submission of the appropriate B2-C2 certificate and/or credit in Academic English 1 KJAZ256 if the instructor allows/approves enrolment of a particular student without a certificate/credit no later than the end of the winter term!!! STUDENTS OF THIS GROUP MUST ENROLL IN SIS by the deadline set by the faculty!!! (GC is only a working study platform to which enrolment in SIS is hierarchically superior). |

1) 100% - 70% compliance with the requirements specified by the instructor of the two B1–B2 parallel groups for SS 2024. 2) For the B2-C2 group, 100% - 70% compliance with the requirements is mandatory: All well-crafted assignments submitted on time: 35% Structured presentation: 25% Final project (seminar thesis project) and successfully passed colloquium: min. 20% - max. 40%. Note: colloquium questions will cover thematic worksheets, academic writing, and presentations (and the seminar paper project).
