The primary goal of the course is to teach students to take a complete medical history of an English-speaking patient and to expand their knowledge of professional and lay medical terminology. On the basis of specialized medical histories (relevant to the field of physiotherapy), the course will also contribute to the improvement of students' general linguistic competence, especially in the areas of grammar and syntax. Seminars - 15 face-to-face meetings, 90 minutes per week (in combination with an e-learning course on the Moodle UK 1 platform). The seminars should focus on general and specialized medical terminology and taking a medical history from an English-speaking patient. They will also be oriented towards student presentations (medical topics + constructive criticism). |

Students will receive their credit if they meet the following conditions: 1) satisfactory attendance (at least 70%), 2) giving a presentation on one of the topics provided by the instructor (8-12 min.), 3) passing the credit test (pass = 70%). The credit test includes written comprehension tasks, vocabulary, grammar and other material covered in the seminars. The credit test can be retaken three times. Once the students have received their credits, they can take a comprehensive oral exam which tests the knowledge and skills acquired both English courses (Odborná angličtina I. + Odborná angličtina II.). The exam can be retaken twice. |
