The subject is intended to complement the basic knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals with an emphasis on acquiring advanced knowledge about the latest developments in the field of nuclear medicine. The subject should serve as the theoretical basis for the research work of doctoral students in the field of radiopharmacy and pharmacology. The aim is not only to obtain information on new radiopharmaceuticals and their composition but also on methods for their preparation and methods of evaluation and implementation of control analyzes. In this subject, emphasis will also be put on clinical use of radiopharmaceuticals and instrumental evaluation when applied to patients. Students will be able to get acquainted with the mechanisms on which the use of newer and developmental radiopharmaceuticals is based, methods of radioactive labeling of these substances, devices and methods of quality assessment and instrumentation used in clinical practice for PET and SPECT. It will also include rules for handling radioactive substances.
