UP-TRANS – Machine translation post-editing with specialisation in German
The UP-TRANS (Up-skilling Translators) course offers high-quality training in the field of machine translation (MT) and MT post-editing, which is a knowledge-intensive area.
The course is intended for the following target group: foreign language teachers in secondary schools, foreign language teachers regardless of affiliation, translators in institutional settings, freelance translators, translation teachers at all levels of the education system, including universities. As such, the course offers up-skilling in this value-added sector, traditionally considered a creative industry. In addition, the course will contribute to building a resilient tertiary sector and its graduates will be prepared to face the challenges of a rapidly changing labour market. Representatives of professional translation associations in the Czech Republic are also contributing to the content of the course, further developing the cooperation between universities and the professional sector.
We offer courses in five specialisations. These courses are interlinked and thus, the micro-certificate is an integrated one. Participants enrol in a respective language specialisation of their choice: English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish. At least one language specialisation can be followed within the course. Consequently, it is possible to enrol in more than one specialisation, depending on the required prerequisites.
As part of the course, participants complete a core module and a specialisation. After completing a chosen specialisation, the participant is free to enrol in the next specialisation, in which he/she continues only by completing the specialisation module.
