The first block focuses on orientation in the contemporary literary world (aesthetic value in relation to today's criteria, literary awards, mainstream, bestseller, situation on the book market, etc.). Furthermore, on literature as a medium enabling entry into other media and on the character of these intermedial connections (media forms of contemporary literature, approaches to phenomena such as graphic novels, comics, operas, series or computer games). The fundamental topic will also be the issues of transfer and borders (e.g. literature beyond the Euro-Atlantic area: South America, Australia, Oceania, Africa..., the otherness of genre traditions), as well as the experience of otherness, ethical sensitivity towards others, the social and cultural situation of the "self" in the literature of today's world. The material will be Czech and world literature. The lectures will be designed on the basis of selected examples and case studies, which can be used to refer to the context of the entire issue.
