| The complete Course in Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination and Supportive language course consists of two parts: 1. Supportive language course 2. Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination The modular course in Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination and Supportive language course are designed for individuals who, in addition to the interpreting skills covered in the first part of the course, wish to expand their language proficiency in the supportive language course. This part includes topics specific to conference interpreting. 1.Supportive language course (Language preparation in Ukrainian) Supportive language cousrse is aimed at expanding and improving language (and additionally historical, political and cultural) knowledge related to Ukraine and Ukrainian language. The key emphasis is put on the development of the specific vocabulary and stylistic skills necessary for the correct use of language in the process of interpreting. 2.The modular course Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination The modular course is geared towards expanding skills in the field of conference interpreting (simultaneous interpreting and high-level consecutive interpreting). There is no university in the Czech Republic teaching simultaneous or consecutive interpreting in this language combination. Participants will acquire the necessary skills and competencies, learn basic interpreting strategies, practice managing challenging and high-pressure communication environments, and enhance their language, general, cultural, and domain-specific knowledge in the given field. This is a professionally oriented course for motivated participants with the essential language competencies, communicative skills, and interpreting prerequisites. The course aims to provide them with basic interpreter training potentially allowing them to work as conference interpreters. |

Termíny kurzu v LS 2024/2025: Přijímání přihlášek do 8.4.2025 Podpůrný jazykový kurz - Samostudium: 17.4.-25.4.2025 (15 hod) Podpůrný jazykový kurz - Prezenční setkání: 26.-27.4.2025 (15 hod) Podpůrný jazykový kurz - Samostudium: (35 hod) Závěrečný test Tlumočnický kurz - Samostudium: 10.-22.5.2025 (10 hod) Tlumočnický kurz - Prezenční setkání: 23.-25.5.2025 (25 hod) Výuka je dne 23.5. zahájena ve 14 hod, 24.-25.5. probíhá výuka celý den. Tlumočnický kurz - Samostudium: 26.5. - 6.6.2025 (25 hod) Příprava na závěrečné hodnocení: 26.5. - 6.6.2025 (15 hod) Závěrečné zkoušení: sobota 7.6.2025 Modulový kurz Konferenční tlumočení v jazykové kombinaci čeština-ukrajinština je zaměřený na rozšiřování kompetencí v oblasti konferenčního tlumočení (kabinové simultánní tlumočení a konsekutivní tlumočení se zápisem). Výuka simultánního tlumočení či konsekutivního tlumočení se zápisem, jež se používá zejména při jednáních na vysoké politické a diplomatické úrovni, není v této jazykové kombinaci v celé České republice nikde dosud na žádné vysoké škole nabízena. Účastníci získají potřebné dovednosti a návyky a naučí se základní tlumočnické strategie, včetně tlumočnické notace, vyzkouší si zvládání vypjatých a náročných komunikačních situací, práci se stresem a pod tlakem a zdokonalí své jazykové, všeobecné, kulturní a areálové znalosti z dané oblasti. Jedná se o profesně zaměřený kurz, jehož cílem je poskytnout motivovaným účastníkům s nezbytnými jazykovými kompetencemi a komunikativními dovednostmi a tlumočnickými předpoklady minimální základní tlumočnickou průpravu pro potenciální budoucí uplatnění i v oblasti konferenčního tlumočení. Současná geopolitická situace radikálně změnila situaci na trhu tlumočení. Prioritou pro státní orgány, neziskové organizace, profesní sdružení, média (zejména veřejnoprávní TV a rozhlas), vzdělávací instituce, a tedy i akademickou obec se od konce února 2022 stalo zajištění dostatečného počtu kvalifikovaných tlumočníků ovládajících ukrajinštinu. Je tedy žádoucí nabídnout zkušenějším tlumočníkům s praxí, avšak bez odborné přípravy, možnost se "upskillovat" - vyzkoušet si konferenční tlumočení a zaměřit se na nácvik tlumočení simultánního a konsekutivního z cizího jazyka do mateřštiny a z mateřštiny do cizího aktivního jazyka (tzv. retour), na práci s textem v kabině i mimo kabinu (tj. tlumočení z listu), na etický kodex tlumočníka, jeho roli a místo, na zvládnutí tlumočnických strategií, psychohygienu, odborná témata a jejich přípravu apod.). Závěrečné hodnocení: ústní zkouška (Závěrečné hodnocení probíhá za aktivní účasti, poslechu a hodnocení tlumočnických výkonů vždy třemi lektory/experty současně.) |

| - Minimum required education: Bachelor's degree (Bc.) - Native language at C2 level, foreign language (i.e., Czech or Ukrainian) at a minimum level of B2+ or ideally C1. Foreign applicants should provide a certificate. - Previous practical experience in conference interpreting, to be documented in the motivation letter. |

| Knowledge: The graduate is able to: • define the basic types of interpreting: consecutive/bilateral/dialogue interpreting without note-taking, consecutive interpreting with note-taking, simultaneous interpreting, simultaneous interpreting with text, sight translation, • define the principles of the code of ethics for conference interpreters (see ASKOT, JTP, AIIC), • define technical prerequisites necessary for quality interpreting. Skills: The graduate is able to: • use terminology of the relevant thematic modules covered by the course, • adjust the selection of interpreting strategies according to the specific communicative situation, • interpret the content of the specific communicative situation taking into account the interpreter’s role and ethics, • render the content of the communicative situation and provide adequate interpreting in terms of context and pragmatics (accuracy, consistency, clarity, fluency) while meeting the objectives of the specific communicative situation. Competencies: The graduate is able to: • demonstrate in their interpreting performance their highly developed ability to conduct analysis and synthesis, evaluation of the specific communicative situation and consequences of cultural differences between the speaker and the participant of a conference or another event, especially in a demanding and tense communicative situation, • demonstrate in their interpreting their adaptability and ability of self-management according to the requests of the client/contracting party and in non-standard working conditions. |
