| The complete Course in Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination and Supportive language course consists of two parts: 1. Supportive language course 2. Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination The modular course in Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination and Supportive language course are designed for individuals who, in addition to the interpreting skills covered in the first part of the course, wish to expand their language proficiency in the supportive language course. This part includes topics specific to conference interpreting. 1.Supportive language course (Language preparation in Ukrainian) Supportive language cousrse is aimed at expanding and improving language (and additionally historical, political and cultural) knowledge related to Ukraine and Ukrainian language. The key emphasis is put on the development of the specific vocabulary and stylistic skills necessary for the correct use of language in the process of interpreting. 2.The modular course Conference Interpreting: Czech-Ukrainian language combination The modular course is geared towards expanding skills in the field of conference interpreting (simultaneous interpreting and high-level consecutive interpreting). There is no university in the Czech Republic teaching simultaneous or consecutive interpreting in this language combination. Participants will acquire the necessary skills and competencies, learn basic interpreting strategies, practice managing challenging and high-pressure communication environments, and enhance their language, general, cultural, and domain-specific knowledge in the given field. This is a professionally oriented course for motivated participants with the essential language competencies, communicative skills, and interpreting prerequisites. The course aims to provide them with basic interpreter training potentially allowing them to work as conference interpreters. |

| - Minimum required education: Bachelor's degree (Bc.) - Native language at C2 level, foreign language (i.e., Czech or Ukrainian) at a minimum level of B2+ or ideally C1. Foreign applicants should provide a certificate. - Previous practical experience in conference interpreting, to be documented in the motivation letter. |

| Knowledge The student is able to: Define the basic types of interpreting: consecutive/bilateral/dialogue interpreting without note-taking, consecutive interpreting with note-taking, simultaneous interpreting, simultaneous interpreting with text, sight translation. Define the principles of the code of ethics for conference interpreters (see ASKOT, JTP, AIIC). Define technical prerequisites necessary for quality interpreting. Skills The student is able to: use terminology of the relevant thematic modules covered by the course adjust the selection of interpreting strategies according to the specific communicative situation interpret the content of the specific communicative situation taking into account the interpreter’s role and ethics render the content of the communicative situation and provide adequate interpreting in terms of context and pragmatics (accuracy, consistency, clarity, fluency) while meeting the objectives of the specific communicative situation. Competencies The student is able to: demonstrate in their interpreting performance their highly developed ability to conduct analysis and synthesis, evaluation of the specific communicative situation and consequences of cultural differences between the speaker and the participant of a conference or another event, especially in a demanding and tense communicative situation demonstrate in their interpreting their adaptability and ability of self-management according to the requests of the client/contracting party and in non-standard working conditions |
