Preliminary scope of work |
Preliminary scope of work in English |
Titanosilicate zeolites are important catalysts, e.g. in epoxidation reactions. A number of advanced titanosilicates was developed with particular attention to improving active site accessibility for bulky substrates in comparison with industrially used TS-1. Layered and pillared forms of the TS-1 are of the most important. Nevertheless, all these catalysts are at the stage of laboratory investigation and data on their chemical and mechanical stability, and regenerability are scarce in literature.
The aim of the thesis is to investigate chemical and mechanical stability of layered TS-1 based epoxidation catalysts. Particular attention will be given to catalyst reusability including attempt to identify possible deactivation mechanisms. In addition, the student will investigate influence of particle size and influence of mechanical operations during simple catalyst shaping (e.g. granulation). Cyclooctene epoxidation with hydrogen peroxide will be the basic model reaction. |
