Preliminary scope of work |
V hlubokých vodách jezer, jejichž voda není pravidelně promíchávána, může být díky zvýšenému hydrostatickému tlaku a nízké teplotě zadrženo obrovské množství rozpuštěného oxidu uhličitého či methanu. Naštěstí jsou takovéto přírodní podmínky velmi ojedinělé. Limnická erupce je vzácná přírodní katastrofa, kdy dojde k narušení křehké nestabilní rovnováhy a k prudkému uvolnění rozpuštěného plynu z vodní masy.
Preliminary scope of work in English |
In the deep lake waters, in the type of lakes with layers of water that are not intermixed regularly, a large amount of dissolved carbon dioxide or methan can reside due to an elevated hydrostatic pressure and lowered temperature. Fortunately, such natural conditions are extremely unique. A limnic eruption is a rare type of natural disaster, where the delicate unstable balance is disrupted, causing a rapid dissolution of the gas from the lake water mass. Two such incidents have been documented in the literature, the latter one causing more than 1.700 casualties around Lake Nyos, Cameroon, in 1986.
The thesis will provide a literature review focused on the physical mechanism behind the limnic eruption, and on the methods used in its research. |
